Praying for Blessings from the Almighty

7th Ocbtober 2010 - Muslim teachers, students and respective parents from Year 8, Form 5 and Upper Six of SMSO gathered in the Kg. Bukit Beruang mosque nearby to perform mass Hajat prayer and recite Surah Yassin to obtain blessings from the Almighty upon the upcoming public exams starting the following week.

The occasion was also inserted with motivational talk conducted by Brunei's leading religious speaker, Dr. Haji Ismuhadi. One ofw the contents was he emphasised the importance of being diligent and the bad effects of being lazy. In one way or another the talk shed some encouragement on the students to perform well for their exams.

Colours of Aidilfitri in SMSO

6th October 2010 - The MPP committee collaborated with secondary prefects and organised a two-in-one event, namely Hari Raya and Teachers' Day Celebrations. The occasion was held in the school's multi-purpose hall.

The main focuses on the day were the stage performances presented by various parties from both secondary and sixth form students. Lucky teachers and students also had chances of gifts in the lucky draw section, which was held throughout the day. The climax in the hall was the awards for the most popular teachers for secondary and sixth form categories. Last but not least, after the hall event every school citizen enjoyed the feast. Whether in the classes or the staffrooms, lavish foods were everywhere.

Majlis Khatam Al-Quran bagi Tingkatan 6 Atas

Pada hari Sabtu, 25hb September telah berlangsungnya Majlis Khatam Al-Quran bagi penuntut-penuntut tingkatan enam atas 2009-2010. Majlis ini diadakan di dewan serbaguna, Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina 'Othman, Tutong.

Holiday's over, school's just around the corner

Looking back for the past fifteen days, especially ones that coincided with Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities, how would you find your past holidays be?

With only two days left ahead - today inclusive - have you completed any homeworks your teachers have assigned to you?

School will reopen on Monday, 20th September for its fourth and last term of 2010. This is also when major exams will be commenced.

Therefore, on behalf of MPPs we hope that any given assignments have been done with full dedication upon Monday, and preparation in terms of revision have been started or is being continuously carried out ahead of the end of year examinations. Above all, make sure your health are in best condition so that you can study in optimum concentration.

Iftar bersama MPP

Pada hari Ahad, 5hb September, 2010, penuntut-penuntut Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar 2010-2011 telah mengadakan majlis bersungkai di rumah kediaman Yang Di-Pertua di Kampong Kiudang, Tutong.

Acara-acara yang diselitkan merupakan yang berunsurkan keugamaan, yang antara lainnya majlis bertahlil, sembahyang Maghrib, Isya' dan Tarawih berjemaah diimamkan oleh MPP sendiri.

Wad-Dhuha.....

Pada hari Khamis, 2hb September 2010, telah berlangsungnya Majlis Khatam Al-Quran sempena tamatnya program Tadarus Al-Quran yang dikelolakan oleh Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina 'Othman, Tutong.

Selain dari itu, majlis ini juga bertujuan untuk menyemarakkan lagi bulan Ramadhan Al-Mubarak.

Majlis ini disertai oleh penuntut-penuntut MPP, tingkatan enam bawah dan enam atas, kesemuanya berjumlah 68 orang.

Tetamu kehormat yang hadir merupakan Pengerusi Persatuan Ibubapa dan Guru (PIBG), Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina 'Othman.

Acara dimulakan dengan bacaan surah-surah Al-Quran, dari Surah Ad-Dhuha hingga Surah An-nas, diteruskan dengan Takhtim oleh peserta-peserta perempuan yang diketuai oleh Naib Yang Di-Pertua II, dan diikuti dengan Dikir Marhaban oleh peserta-peserta lelaki.

Majlis ini juga diselitkan dengan meraikan saudara-saudara Islam yang baru, penyampaian derma kepada anak-anak yatim dan penyampaian hadiah kepada pertandingan Matematik bagi penuntut-penuntut menengah.

Bagi menghargai kedatangan hadirin dan hadirat pada majlis itu campur yang berupa sekotak minuman setiap seorang dan bunga telur telah diedarkan.

Semoga dengan majlis ini semua yang hadir menerima keberkatan dari Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala jua. Amin.....
