Congratulations!

Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina 'Othman writes a new history today as its Malay Debate Team, which comprises of upper six students, made the school proud by winning the 2010 Inter-school Malay Debate Competition after beating Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College in the final.

In this opportunity we, the students of Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar SMSO 2010-2011, would like to convey our greatest congratulatory message to the team. We hope the team would become a role model for future debate teams to succeed in any debate activities and competitions in the future.

All the best!

Sharing is caring

Today's afternoon saw sixth form students attending sharing sessions with the former students of SMSO who are now currently pursuing higher education in local institutions and abroad. The event was held in the multi-purpose hall, from 2.00-3.00 p.m.

The arrangements of seats were in a number of clusters in such a way both parties could interact to the maximum possible. After each given amount of time students dispersed to their other desired clusters to have talks with the other alumni.

From this session currently-studying students get to know more about the experiences and tips shared by the alumni during their lives as SMSO students and in the university level. Complemented by their achievements also gave motivation to the current students to improve in various aspects in their studies.

All the best to the alumni and the current sixth form students!

The sound of frying, the smell of foods

The school's foyer today was busier than normal. The business club organised a stall selling foods as one of its projects, the other one notably car-washing service.

A number of notable delicacies were sold, including spaghetti, fried banana dumplings and Lekor fries. All foods were sold at a price of $1.00 for specific amounts.

The stall received an overwhelming response from the school's citizens, from teachers to secondary students. While Lekor fries took the first place as the most-selling food.

Marks... Discussion...

On Thursday, 29th July, 2010, another VIP Day was held in the multi-purpose hall for lower six students in regards to the recent First Progress Test.

Before the event started, a number of MPPs involved in arranging the setting in the hall.

By 1.30 p.m., the first few parents of the respective students arrived. They were directly led to the desks of subjects of what their children take for A Level. Discussion soon followed.

From this event both parties are able to co-acknowledge the academic performance of the respective students. In one way or another, from this event it can assist the parents in motivating their children to improve in their studies.
